The Triumphal Arch in Bucharest is 27 m high and was erected in 1922 in memory of the victims of World War I. At first built provisionally in stucco and wood, it was refashioned in stone between 1935 and 1936. This classical construction was decorated with bas-reliefs made by celebrated sculptors such as Ion Jalea, C. Medrea and D. Paciurea. The bas-reliefs include the effigies of Queen Mary and King Ferdinand.
